Who cares?
The offense couldn’t get going in the preseason against the Panthers. The Saints offense was even worse against the Titans. That led to a lot of talk about Drew Brees’ age coming into play and the end of his career.
And the Saints offense was worse against the Buccaneers last week, albeit by a microscopic margin.
Last week, it appeared that the Saints offense looked at times like one of those exploding things you know is going to blow up once you walk up to it. But the reality is it still functioned just fine.
The Saints are about two months away from the real season. Based on what they’ve shown in the preseason and three weeks in the regular season, I feel confident saying that Drew Brees’ days as a top-five QB in the league are done.
Oh, the Saints don’t like what they’ve seen from their quarterback.

New Orleans coach Sean Payton hasn’t been shy about calling Brees out as a subpar player in the past.

And most, including offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr., insist to you there isn’t a quarterback controversy.
There’s no question the line has taken the brunt of the blame.
