Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. William van der Weyden (politician)

William van der Weyden (1818 – August 16, 1887) was an Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented Brant in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1873 to 1875 as a Liberal-Conservative and then from 1879 to 1886 as a Liberal.

He was born in Ghent, the son of William van der Weyden, and was educated there. Van der Weyden went to New York in 1831, but returned to Ghent, settling in Brant County in 1835. He moved to Osprey, Upper Canada in 1838 and to Brantford, Upper Canada in 1839. He was in partnership with his brother-in-law, John C. Matthews. In 1842, van der Weyden married Eliza Matthews. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Commons in 1854, 1858 and 1867. In 1878, he was named warden for the Osprey Township. He was first elected to the Ontario legislature in an 1873 by-election held after the resignation of John Strachan. In 1875, he was appointed solicitor for the county of Brant. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1875. He was reelected in 1879.
