Anyway… I am totally loving the new features. The Jpeg previews are awesome fit & proper for the iPhone and magically fit in the 1280×800 monitor as well. I have never worked so well with the smart previews system before…
One feature that I have yet to be able to test is in the context of the “smart previews”… I found that once I selected all of the photos that I was working on for a particular photo library, that the previews became one file (the same size as all of the photos) but that the transform feature functioned on a by folder basis…
When I process a folder with a lot of images, like say 200 DNGs or more, the process begins to get a bit too slow… I guess the new version of the Software is great and I have not yet found a performance issue with it. Maybe you now have some oil on your hands for the next review. Maybe you can inform me of what I do wrong.

I’ve been using LR 4.0 since 1 month and didn’t have any problems, but I downloaded 5.2.1 for testing reasons and started finding some performance issues. It took twice as long to open a folder with 100+ RAW files in comparison with opening of [previously downloaded] 4 files. It was also not as responsive. I think that, if LR can’t handle the memory usage when you have 100 photographs, then it should notify instead of freezing and rendering the whole application useless. I am concerned that both 5.2 and 5.2.1 will cause performance issues for others, too. I hope to see some resistance to such performance issues being eliminated in the future.

Filters and Buttons are a collection of new functions and improvements to existing tools that make it easy to quickly create variations and customizations. The new Fill and Adjust Lighting tools feature a new radial style that lets you paint on images as you would with painting in the real world. These tools are smart in that they respond to specific elements in your photo, such as bike tires or tree branches, and apply the appropriate adjustments from a range of preselected settings.
Several new camera technologies have been added to Photoshop, including Hybrid CMOS AF, which works as quickly as DSLR technology, while offering the color-saturation accuracy of CCD sensors. In addition, Photoshop now works with digital-analog cameras, such as the two features available on the new La Crosse AC-480. Meanwhile, the Lens Blur feature in Elements CC is getting its own update with more depth effects, flexibility in post-processing and the ability to move blur and distortion further away from the center of the frame.
- New Retouch and Replace tools. The powerful retouching tools built into the software are getting improved with the addition of the replace tool, which replaces an area with one that is a color or tone blend of another image.
- Multiple color spaces. Photoshop files can now simultaneously use common CMYK and Lab color spaces, which share the same color accuracy.
- Update to Patches and Photo Merge. This release also ships with Chrome and other improvements for the browser for displaying and sharing photos.
- Camera RAW support. A new camera-optimized profile for JPEG capture has been built into the software and is automatically selected for JPEG pictures and supports all common RAW formats including DNG, TIFF, CR2, NEF, JPEG XR and others. This update also adds support for the HEIF image format.
- Improved movie rendering. The Photoshop team built a scalable open source implementation of the Progressive Web Apps specification, allowing providing faster rendering of movies with higher quality.
- Opacity in Adjustment Layers and other updates. New opacity values for Adjustment Layers can now be used to make tinting for styling, and dynamics are now supported for the Brush Tool, Adobe Color Engine and in all masking tools. Arithmetic operations, blend modes, masking and masking variables have also been added to other tools.

It was with the release of Photoshop CS2 in 1997 that the history of Adobe Photoshop really began. With the invention of the now iconic Puppet Warp tool, Photoshop was finally geared towards 3D editing. The feature remain consistent as the flagship feature until today.
