How to Start Using AutoCAD

You must install the AutoCAD program before you can use it. You can download AutoCAD from the Autodesk website.

AutoCAD is free software; however, it is bundled with products that you purchase from Autodesk. See the AutoCAD license agreement for more details.

To install AutoCAD, follow these steps:

Download AutoCAD. Check your email. Launch your web browser and navigate to the AutoCAD download page. After the AutoCAD program launches, log in to your Autodesk account. If prompted, provide the email address and password for your Autodesk account. If you do not have an Autodesk account, sign up for one at Autodesk.com. You can choose from the free, student, or paid subscription plan.

Depending on the plan you choose, you will receive the following messages:

This version of AutoCAD will be free for 60 days. After 60 days, the free version will stop working. You will be prompted to upgrade to the Plus or Premium version of AutoCAD for $169 or $299 per year.

This version of AutoCAD will be free for the next 30 days. After 30 days, the free version will stop working. You will be prompted to upgrade to the Standard version of AutoCAD for $49 per year.
