“Insanity”: Stranded in the subconsciousness of another person in Virtual Reality.
“One person’s craziness is another person’s reality”-Tim Burton. In the sense of Tim Burton a group of students from the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg faced the challenge to combine virtual reality technology and the horror genre in one game. On both the artistic and the technical level, the students wanted to break fresh ground and walk new paths. The project will be exhibited with many other student projects at the Creativity Rules Festival in Hallein from June 8th to June 11th 2017.
Concept and Story
The game tells the story of a gray future where, thanks to the latest technology, it is possible to enter another’s subconsciousness and treat their psychological problems. During a routine procedure, the player enters the subconscious mind of a former instrument maker. Shortly after the entry he has to realize that things don’t go according to plan and that he is locked inside. During the search for a way out, the terrible past of the instrument maker is gradually revealed and the player discovers that he is not alone.
Visual style and new technical possibilities
Aimed at a very simplified and abstract design the team wants to stand out from the mass of hyperrealistic horror games and offer their own distinctive style. On a technical level, the students try to use new and innovative techniques to push the game onto a new level.

The game Insanity VR: Last Score Serial Key is the result of an educational project with the title “Insanity VR: From the Virtual Reality Studio to the Virtual Reality Studio”. The project revolves around the possibilities of virtual reality to develop e-games and wants to highlight the future potential of these entertainment formats. The project is conducted by the game studio CENRE, the university’s computer science department and the television department of the TV Österreich.
About CENRE
CENRE is a game studio based in Salzburg. We are experienced in developing and producing virtual reality games. We focus on using innovative concepts, the latest gaming technology and the strengths of the Salzburg Game Area in our games. The studio also hosts the annual Creativity Rules Festival in Hallein from June 8th to June 11th 2017 where projects from many other universities from Austria, Germany and Italy take part.

What’s new:
Insanity is collaborating with illustrator Joost Plantenga on Last Score: an animated VR experience that will run from 14-28 April in the M-Lab at Utrecht University.
Inspired by ISS Leader Chris Hadfield’s classic, c. 2001, Space Diaries painting, Last Score is a psychedelic and trippy journey through the cosmos. In it, you will trace your own path through the stars, alongside the greatest space artists, from Marsyas to Mendez, Breslin to Marquis, and The Guys to Messrs. Dumas and Van Pelt. Curated by Patrick McDonnell, curator at M-Lab, the ‘A Space Odyssey’ exhibition hosted by Insanity, will accompany this venture on Earth from 14-28 April.
Last Score is the fruit of a collaboration between Insanity and Lars Bo Schem, a long time collaborator and visual artist; both working together on Insanity’s Art With VR (AWVR) series. Schem also collaborated on Insanity’s animations for 2015’s Summer Weekend. Last Score will be the third installment of this series, following on from Summer Weekend 2015 and 2012’s Water.
We chatted with Schem about his experience working on Last Score, collaborating with Insanity and the themes he brings to the projects he creates.
What was it about Insanity that made you want to collaborate on this project?
I have worked with Insanity on other projects in the past. My experience with them is very good. I’ve always enjoyed their approach and I know that they are very committed to VR art. It’s for that reason that I reached out with them, and we started the conversation.
For me, the collaboration with them is, as always, a collaboration between people. A professional collaboration, but much more. Insanity is an artistic family that make art together. I’m not the only one who is working for them. I’ve worked with many artists from Insanity, but the regular crew is Aide, Susheela, Acke, Junfeng, Sophia and myself, along with Amalia.
Working on this means I’m working with my friends. I get the opportunity to stay in my own space, and I get to be a part of my own projects. You are always going to learn something new from friends, you get to see their

Open it, and use winrar.. (Not 7z).
Directx 9.0c:
Go to GHG – General Imports and download the “manual”(written in the users guide) for that version and extract it to a new folder on your desktop. Now open it with winrar and look at the “armour_and_weapons” folder. extract this to a new folder on your desktop. Now copy and paste the game file to the directory you just made. (or just regular copy to a directory and go with it) Now run the game.
