When dragging desktops around in the small deskwin window (either on the current desktop or to others) the default behaviour is to set the window to the position you dragged it to; if you want to retain the window’s original position, hold the CTRL key when you release the left mouse button.
￭ Closing down deskwin – When you close down the deskwin application, it will move all the windows to the first desktop.
￭ Restore after crash – When deskwin is restarted after a crash, it will make all windows that were hidden during the previous session visible again.

As the name implies, deskwin is a window manager for multiple desktops. You can use deskwin to switch between desktops while still using the regular window manager.
Simply click a desktop in the deskwin window (the default is the first desktop) and click another one. Deskwin will hide the currently visible desktop, making it appear as if you’ve been logged out and you’ve logged in again. All other desktops remain unchanged.

Remember the last desktop you were on and switch back to it by clicking the name in the task bar.

To restore windows after a crash, simply click on the desktop name in the dock and click the desktop where the windows were last located.
To hide all desktops except the one where the explorer window is located, press CTRL+ALT+F10.

It’s nice but it doesn’t seem to work anymore. When the desktop is docked, it doesn’t stay on the current desktop after a restart. It comes back to the first desktop in the tab order. It seems to work okay with hotkeys, the mouse and keyboard keys.

Agreed, I think deskwin’s got some problems with hotkey problems. The key macro A,C,D,E works great except A (but not Alt) is mapped to change desktop. A should change to the current desktop, C to the next, D to the previous, E to close.
