What’s the point of redirecting to another page in JSF?
In JSF, what’s the point of redirecting to a page that is immediately redirected back to the original page. Wouldn’t redirecting to a different page be considered a different URL and causes a cross-site scripting attack?
A:
The original URL is kept intact. This way, the original URL is preserved in the browser history and the user can easily navigate to it.

Redirecting a request to another resource in the same session/resource-tree does not lead to a cross-site scripting attack. It is only if you redirect to a resource on a completely different server, then you’re causing a cross-site scripting attack.
For example, if you have an HTML form and you post it to the server, the server stores the information in session scoped bean and forwards the request to the servlet. The server has no idea what content the servlet will return and it can just forward the request (typically using a RedirectView which just forwards the request, with no content). It is the responsibility of the servlet to do whatever it needs to do and to not harm the user’s session or context. For example, if you want to load resources asynchronously and if the user navigates away before all resources are loaded, you could add a timestamp to the URL or querystring and instruct the browser to wait for the resources.
Redirecting the request to a resource on a completely different server (with a different context) is the only place where you have to be careful, because there is no way to tell the server what resources it should return when you send a request to it. You could in theory allow the server to send back all sorts of stuff to the client and there is the risk that the client will somehow read this.

In theory, the domain name shouldn’t change. However, this is not always the case. The domain name

I’m gonna put this out there and ask you guys if you get a feeling of anything being off about this.
I’m not trying to be or sound like I’m pro one way or the other but as a life long, casual Smack Brothers fan and one with some credibility in regards to my music taste, I get a weird feeling watching the “Hell in a Cell” match. I feel like it’s safe to say that everyone knows about the WWE and how the product gets skewed due to the storylines going on. The reactions to this match were all strange and just kinda weird…
It’s obviously the first “main event” match on the card and it’s the “main event” match of the show. From the lighting to the crowd to the angle being set up… If you’ve ever seen the first few minutes of a WWF or ECW pay per view, there’s
