The first release of AutoCAD ran on Windows 95, and it was also the first version of AutoCAD to have a true native 64-bit architecture, as a Windows NT-based product.

In 1996, AutoCAD was ported to the Win32 platform (the operating system for Microsoft Windows 3.1), and first release of AutoCAD Win32 was in May 1997.

AutoCAD for Windows 95 was released as a first release of AutoCAD, and it was first to introduce the concept of the “right-click” “shortcut” menu (the graphical menu), as a first-generation development platform.

Drawings

A drawing is a model that shows a representation of a three-dimensional space. Drawings are expressed in the 2D vector graphics format called _path_ or _vector_ and are represented as lines, arcs, splines, and text. Drawings can be drawn in a variety of ways, including on paper, paper cutouts, CAD-based methods, or on the screen.

Most drawings have a number of basic elements:

* **Shapes** The shape is the basic component of the drawing and is made up of a collection of objects such as paths, text, and components such as lines, arcs, and circles.
* **Components** Drawing objects include arcs, lines, circles, splines, and text. A component is a representation of an object that can be manipulated and combined to form other objects, as illustrated in Figure 4.45.

Then click on the Autocad program menu and go to File->Open Program Menu
This will take you to the menu where you can select the submenu you wish to
open. I believe the.dwg or.dxf files are in that submenu and you can open
any file that starts with.dwg or.dxf. If you’re unsure where to find the
Autocad program menu, it’s in the ribbon, next to the Print icon, and you
can open the program menu by clicking that icon.

Basic example

1. On the screen that opens, use the keyboard to select the rectangle tool
(btw: To select the rectangle tool, you can press the T key at the same
time that you click the pencil tool. Then while holding the T key,
click on the rectangle (by pressing the C key to center the rectangle
and then the V key to resize the rectangle.))

2. Use the mouse to rotate the cursor counter-clockwise to draw a circle
at the center of the rectangle. Then click in the circle and drag the
rectangle to draw a triangle.

3. You can adjust the height of the rectangle by moving the mouse away
from the top of the screen (while you still have the mouse selected) and
rotating the cursor clockwise to move the mouse back in, and then
releasing the mouse. Repeat the same operation to adjust the height of
the triangle. When you’ve adjusted the height, press the space bar and
select the command “Select” to start drawing the shapes.

4. Now, you should be able to see the rectangle and the triangle by
selecting “Line” (the default) or “Polyline” (if you have at least a
pencil selected).

5. If you’d like to add some details, do the following:
– Draw a square inside the rectangle.
– Draw a parallelog
