How to pass data to a coroutine in Lua?

I’m trying to pass data from one coroutine to another coroutine. I’m not sure if this is possible.
What I am trying to do is to “open” a file and save it (read data from it and then write it) in a new file. The problem is that I’m using coroutines. If I write in the new file the return value of the first coroutine, it returns nil. So I’m trying to pass the data from one coroutine to another.
Lua code (userData.lua):
