The well-established clinical prognostic factors in differentiated thyroid carcinoma include age, presence of distant metastases, and extent of disease, whereas there are more controversial prognostic molecular markers such as BRAF, RAS, and RET-proto oncogene. This review describes the most recently published studies on molecular markers’ prognostic role in differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Several studies show a negative prognostic role for BRAF V600E and RET/PTC3 rearrangements, and a positive prognostic role for RAS mutations. The main challenge in the prognostic evaluation of thyroid cancer is the comparison of results obtained in the different clinical settings (clinical trials vs. routine practice), as thyroid cancer is a heterogeneous disease. Larger trials are needed to clarify the exact prognostic role of molecular markers in patients with thyroid cancer.South African Class GMC 4-6-2T

The South African Railways Class GMC 4-6-2T of 1896 was a steam locomotive from the pre-Union era in the Cape of Good Hope.

In 1896, the Cape Government Railways placed three Class GMC steam locomotives with a 4-6-2 Atlantic type wheel arrangement in service. In 1912, when the Union of South Africa was established, the South African Railways (SAR) designated these locomotives with a single letter code system, placing them in the GM classification.

These locomotives were numbered in the ranges from 98 to 100.

In 1912, when the Union of South Africa was established, the South African Railways (SAR) designated these locomotives with a single letter code system, placing them in the GM classification.

Characteristics
When new, the locomotives were fitted with triple expansion cylinders.

Cape Government Railways
The three locomotives worked on the line between Bantry Bay and Uitenhage. In 1895, all locomotives were sold to the Rhodesian Railways and when they were withdrawn from service, they were sold to the London and North Western Railway, which renumbered them to 6502, 6500 and 6525.
