Its also the only film in the series where the Myers character is the only lead in the picture, and it focuses a lot on Laurie as she struggles with her murder of Michael years ago. The movie is available on Netflix, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, the Microsoft Store, Redbox, and YouTube for $3.99.

Microsoft and Bungie have a pretty nice working relationship. So it’s no surprise that Windows PC players who own a copy of Halo: Reach should be able to get in on the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition action online with Halo: Reach Gold Edition. At the same time, Xbox Play Anywhere players are able to get it for $10 for PC and Xbox one. And it’ll be on Steam and Amazon later this year.

For fans of 1950s-era cinema, a trip to the vintage exhibit at Universal movie theaters is a must. Sure, youve probably seen some of these on DVD, but to see them at a smaller scale on the big screen is a visceral pleasure, not to mention enlightening. The Entity is a good example of the type of movie that would have been staged at Universal in the era where theatergoing was a luxury and studios were happy to charge you the price of a meal. It makes for a surprisingly involving horror picture that operates at both the old-fashioned camp level, but also twists in the unexpected direction of darkness. It brings to mind the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft in much the same way as the otherwise merely decent House on Haunted Hill. (If only it had ditched the last twenty minutes of lurid special effects!) Set in the Himmelsberg Mountains, the story follows a group of German climbers led by a prima donna-type woman (Jennifer Oland) who are pitted against an alien creature that has been terrorizing a nearby monastery. Through it all, Oland and her band of poser types kill with reckless abandon and try to save themselves at the expense of the good people they encounter along the way, all the while being manipulated by a mysterious figure on the mountain in league with the horror. The story is plotted with economy and meanness, a characteristic that also makes it more reflective of its era than most contemporary genre productions. Benjamin Vershure
Before Evil Dead, I Spit on Your Grave or Sleeping Beauties, Broken Dolls perfectly captured the sensation of sitting on a toilet in the dark and suddenly finding yourself with your face in the bowl watching a newscaster report on 9/11. The way the film slows down the action to an unnerving crawl and crams characters into such intimate space is a perfect showcase for both slasher heroine (Tricia Vessey) and the hapless stoner who picks up her trail. The grainy black-and-white photography is ironically reminiscent of the era of horror cinema that is being salvaged by the likes of The Babadook, The Witch and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The whole thing feels like watching it on VHS at your friends house (which it feels like you were, at least briefly), which is perfectly apt for the ghosts-in-the-woods vibe of the premise.
