Spears stepped down from the conservatorship a year after he met with Spears to establish his own conservatorship. In a statement released through a spokesperson on Sept. 30, it reads, In doing so, Mr. Spears takes full responsibility for all of his actions during the thirteen-year period of conservatorship.

In a statement released on Oct. 8, Spears’ dad, Jamie Spears, said she was a “loving, caring, and devoted mother who meant the world to her family.”
“I hope that my daughter’s life continues to improve,” Jamie Spears’ statement reads. “I’m not in a position to make any predictions about the future but I can say that her life has been filled with love and hope, and I’m committed to being there for her as she continues her journey towards recovery.”
