file explorer->>view files>select the name of the partition where linux (fedora) is installed. select “file” button. in the list of files, select the bootmgr file. right-click the bootmgr file and select “copy”. in the upper part of the screen, click “open”.

on the partition where the windows is installed, select the name of the partition (it should be your c: drive), right-click and select “convert”. a conversion wizard will appear. select “browse my computer”. select the name of the folder created earlier in the folder selection window. click next.

i downloaded the msi package. i didn’t notice any security issues so i clicked install and the script ran. it had a warning that “the windows installer service may fail to start on the computer, resulting in the product not installing properly. “ this is my first version and i’m wondering if i missed an install option?

for me, i went to the control panel, and in the log viewer i saw: “[explorer] [superfetch] [general] itms master key 0xd2006800 not found”. itms master key is a signature, so i’m wondering if my windows 7 version needs to be patched or something.

3. ldrpfindloadeddlls looks through the loaded dlls and places them into one or more caches. the file path/name that the dll was loaded from is used as a key into the cache. in some cases, the file path/name is used with the hashcode of the module name. if it can’t find a match in the cache, the dll is inserted into a single dllimportcache and a hashcode value is calculated for it. the call to ldrpfindloadeddlls will return a list of hashes and file paths. the idea here is to speed up the dllmain search for dll functions because there are a lot of dlls that contain exported functions. for example, the command dlls/kernel32/loaddll.c is quite large and contains many exported functions. only a small fraction of the functions in the dll have been used in user mode. thus, when scanning for dll functions for a particular dll, dllmain() searches the import table for dll functions only in the named dlls that use the function. ldrpfindloadeddlls checks the import table for dll functions only in the named dlls that use the function. it also calculates a hashcode for each entry that matches the given arguments.
4. ldrpcheckfordlls parses the list of hashes and file paths that were returned from ldrpfindloadeddlls. the hash is used to search a corresponding loaddllimportcache, which is a hash table of hashes and file paths. if an entry is found in the cache, the address of that entry is used as the address of the dll function to which the dll loader is allocating space for the import descriptor for the dll function. the address is calculated based on the hash calculated in step 3. once the memory for the import descriptor for the function is allocated, the hash from step 3 is used to search for the first argument in the import table that has the hash in step 3. the address that ldrpcheckfordlls returns is the address of the first argument of the entry in the import table of that name. the address of the function to which the loader is allocating space for the import descriptor is stored with this address.
