Installing and then cracking Adobe Photoshop is relatively easy. First, you should download the software from Adobe’s website. As long as the phrase “for beginners” is included, there is no reason for me to have any such fear with photoshop. In fact I could see myself recommending the program to a friend as long as it was accompanied by a book or something similar to guide him through the the ropes. The only thing I feel like browsing through is the “dream dictionary” or even the composing mode tutorials.
KissMyPhotos, thanks for your comment! You’re right, Photoshop Elements would be a perfect camera management and RAW conversion software. That’s the whole point of Lightroom and I am a big fan of how it integrates with the camera and the information that it contains. A big hint to Adobe however: they are missing an important feature. As so many of us learn the ropes, the good ones will soon create a very simple step-by-step tutorial for beginners, so we don’t have to wonder what certain things do or mean. I am happy to see new tutorials and features being created, in typical Adobe fashion. I am no fan of Elements, with its heavy reliance on the computer and the previous limitations to Photoshop. As a photographer and blogger, it is a nightmare to try to use both and make one work in the other’s image editing ecosystem. Although I am torn between going up to Photoshop or Lightroom, there is no doubt in my mind as to one direction: Adobe Lightroom is where it’s at.
Play with the Color Balance options to remove or add color highlights. If you want your image to appear more yellowish, you can increase the intensity of yellow or orange. As you open up the Color Balance options, the hue value from 300 to 500 is displayed. As you adjust the color, the circle changes and displays the values compared to the image. For example, if the image is red, the value will be 0%. If the red image is 50% red, the circle will be at 50% of the red circle. You can highlight or darken the values to change the saturation. Finally, you can increase the transparency value to see the colors.
Use the Curves tools to adjust the lighting of your image. You can open up the Curves view and use the controls to increase or decrease the levels of your image. On the wheel, you can increase the light levels on the left and the dark levels on the right.
