South Florida Fashion Academy Student Runway Show & Portfolio Review Highlights in Fort Lauderdale

The passionate middle and high school students studying fashion design and cosmetology at South Florida Fashion Academy celebrated the end of the school year with their favorite signature fashion trends, designs and sustainable ensembles fashion at the 3rd Annual Portfolio Review & Student Fashion Runway Show in Fort Lauderdale’s budding Art District at the new YMCA South Florida Rooftop venue (1409 NW 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311) on May 30, 2025 in front of a large crowd of fashion lovers and parents.

Inspired by entertainers and globally celebrated movies like “Wicked,” SF/FA fashion design students (grades 6th-12th) and beauty/cosmetology students debuted new fashion collections in a riveting fashion runway show that they have developed over the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Established in 2019, South Florida Fashion Academy’s founder and Executiv Director, Taj McGill, who also heads the school’s Fashion Design Program for middle and high school students, said she is proud to provide local Fort Lauderdale and Pompano middle and high school students their core education while allowing them to also study fashion design, merchandising, barbering, cosmetology and nail technology through the academy’s innovative dual-enrollment elective programs: “I’m so proud of our bright, creative students who are passionate about learning the craft of fashion design and the fashion industry. It’s my belief that creatives shouldn’t have to wait until college to start learning fashion design– they can start in sixth grade while receiving their core education in math, science, history and language arts at our academy,” McGill stated.
