One of the biggest problems with Colonial Marines’ gameplay was the lack of depth and strategy as to how you win, or more importantly how you lose. This is a major problem with many FPS games, and can be attributed to the fact that it is too simple. In Aliens, and with a few games that before, you had several different weapons to pick from. In Colonial Marines, you only have a few different weapons. In truth, the weapons can essentially be considered “functions”. If you found a power-up in the first game of some sort, it probably worked the same in the second. But this is not true in Colonial Marines, as you will often find that a pistol will not work, and a melee weapon will often do more damage.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is a direct sequel to the 1979 movie Alien. The game is developed by Gearbox Software and Electronic Arts. EA Digital Illusions CE developed the game. The game was developed with Unreal Engine 3. Unlike the original film, the campaign has a more familiar narrative than the original film, with several biographical details and changes.
The campaign has a simple plot, with the player as Private Hudson on a U.S.S. Sulaco, an UNSC transport ship under attack by the Alien Xenomorph.
